PETALING JAYA: Just a week after it was announced that a businessman in his 50s had won RM20 million in the Magnum 4D Jackpot game, another big jackpot winner in January has now been revealed.
A former civil servant, aged 77, took the grand prize of RM27.4 million in the Toto 4D Jackpot 1 game in the draw held on Jan 18, The Star reported today.
The man from Sabah said he won the jackpot based on two of his numbers in a System 7 bet for the 4D Jackpot, coming up in the top three prizes.
The 4D numbers 8483 and 1191 were drawn as the second and third prize, respectively, on Jan 18. He said the numbers were his car registration number and the date of the Sept 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States.
“I saw the results in the newspaper and I could not believe my eyes.
“I rushed over to the Sports Toto outlet to check my ticket via the CheckWin machine and also with the customer service assistant at the outlet,” the man was quoted as saying in a statement released by Sports Toto yesterday.
He collected the winnings with his nephew at the Sports Toto head office in Kuala Lumpur earlier this week, The Star reported.
According to Sports Toto, the man said he would use part of the money to pay for his elder sister’s nursing home fees and save the rest in the bank.
His System 7 4D Jackpot ticket, which cost him RM42, sees seven separate 4D numbers on a single ticket making up 21 pairs altogether. He won the accumulative jackpot of RM27,443,249.10 prize as well as an additional RM1,680. - FMT
